I just came across this quote and felt that it was very appropriate to our situation and to all of those who are waitng to return for their children. I'm not sure if it makes the wait any easier...but it can bring us some peace while we wait. Let's hope that this is a big week for adoption news! :o)

Maintaining Our Sanity
It's been a wild week! We are frantically working on our list of required documents for court. I believe that we have 12 of the 20 items done. Hopefully, we'll have everything collected by next week. Our agency doesn't seem to think that we will get a court date until everything is in their hands. However, I'm going to send as much as I can to them on Friday (hoping that they will somehow be able to push things along for our court date). Then, I will send the rest to them in the near future (hopefully by next week). The one document that could take the longest is our marriage certificate. I sent it to Minnesota to get apostilled...so hopefully, it will return ASAP.
In addition to document chasing, we are packing as well. Yes....we are moving on Tuesday! Again...please refer to the title of this blog entry...."Maintaining Our Sanity". Whew! It's been wild...but we're hanging in there! We are very excited to get settled in our new place so it will be all set for Trey's arrival.
We can't ever claim that we are bored, that's for sure! :o) Nonetheless, we hope to post information on our court date soon. We are optimistic that we'll hear something soon. I just hope that we don't experience any more delays or disappointments.
Please pray for all of the other families who are waiting to be re-united with their children. Please also pray for my Grandma..... She's not doing so well.

PRAISE GOD!
We received an email from our coordinator in St. Louis today. She finally has the list of required items for court. We have a list of 20 things that need to be done before we head back to Russia for court. One might see this as a HUGE task (and it sort of is...). However, I am just sooooo excited to have this list! This means that we are one step closer to returning to our son! I'm not sure if they will go ahead and start working on setting our court date (prior to the completion of these items) or if they will wait until everything is collected and then set the court date. I really hope that they start working on setting the court date....because I know that we will get these things done as soon as possible! It may take every ounce of energy that I have...but they will get done quickly!
Yeah! This news has just made my day! Ok....I'm off to start working on these documents!

God's Clock

READY: “Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” -Psalm 27:14
SET: Does the word “wait” cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand up? It does mine. As an endurance athlete, a lot of my training can last for several hours. An example would be this past weekend. I am a few weeks away from a marathon, and I had a 20-mile run scheduled. Before the first mile was completed I was already thinking, “Wouldn’t it be great if this was mile 19 and I only had one mile to go?” I was wishing that I could fast-forward through my run and just see the end results.
I later began to wonder how many times we do this with God. As Christians, many of us donate our time to minister, teach, serve and study God’s Word. How many of us sometimes just go through the motions or ask God to fast-forward us through troubling times? We think we are just too busy to “wait” on God, and we just want to see the end results. I’m sure we have all learned from experience that God’s clock is not always running on the same time as ours. We must be willing to wait for the Lord, and He will get us through our situations.
Today, be thankful God doesn’t use our clock. For a lot of us, without Him, our time would already be up.

Trying to Gain A Better Perspective
This weekend was very difficult because we still have not received "the call". We figured that we might hear something on Friday because it seems that many families tend to hear new information on Fridays. So....we waited through another weekend.
I have to re-direct myself to the verse at the top of our blog. It seems to stare at me and remind me of God's purpose in all of this. There is a purpose..... There is a reason..... I may not ever know what the reason is, but I have to believe that God's will is perfect. So.....I will trust in His timing and I will trust that our reunion with Trey will happen at the perfect time.
Please keep Trey in your prayers. Please also pray for all of the families who are waiting to be united or re-united with their loved ones in the adoption process.

My Mother's Advice
I have been venting to my mom over the past few months that we have put our lives on hold as we wait for our return trip to Russia. We always preface things with "as long we're not in Russia, we should be able to do (blank)". As I have talked with my mom, her advice has been to just make lots of plans and then, maybe we'll get some news on Russia.
Well, we don't have any news on Russia, but we have definitely made some big plans recently. About a week ago, we decided to buy a new home! We are actually closing on our new place on Jan. 29th! If this doesn't speed the adoption along....I don't know what will! Anyway, it could be a really great thing because our new place is much larger than our current home, so it would be a great place to raise our son. It might be a little bit crazy in the next few weeks....but I can honestly say that it has taken my mind off this crazy wait that we are enduring. We have secured our financing and we have picked out some appliances, which has definitely been keeping us busy during this difficult time.
If we end up leaving for Russia before we close on our new home...that's ok...because we can simply have our attorney stand in at the closing and we'll move later (because our current home is not sold). If we don't leave for Russia before the end of the month, we can move and be somewhat settled before we bring our son home. Either way, we win! We will have a very exciting 2008! Building our family in a brand new home.... We're pretty excited about what 2008 will bring. :o)
We'll keep you posted on all of this madness. All in all, we are extremely excited about everything that will be taking place this spring. So......"Thanks Mom! Your advice is being followed."
